Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is the toughest opponent he's faced in his career.
During his time on Merseyside, Can netted 14 goals and contributed to 12 assists in 166 appearances for Liverpool, before he left to join Juventus in June 2018 on a free transfer.
During his time in Turin, the German won Serie A on two occasions as well as the Italian Super Cup, before returning to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund in 2020.
Pogba, who has faced Can both at club and international level, has suggested he is the 'toughest opponent' he has faced and recalled the 'tough battle'.
'Emre Can, yeah", the French World Cup winner told JOE.
'Obviously, N'Golo [Kante] and everything, but one day I remember I had a big battle with Emre Can. But with Kante, you pass him and you think there's another N'Golo because he comes back so fast.'
Pogba went head-to-head with Can on five separate occasions and never lost against the ex-Liverpool man.
The United midfielder has come up against Liverpool on seven occasions during his career - winning once, drawing four and losing twice.
Pogba, who continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford, was a substitute as United crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Only time will tell if the Frenchman stays at the club beyond the summer, but if he leaves, then it is likely to cause mixed emotions from fans.
