Match Report

Within the Aspire Academy grounds, Bino Maçães' training quickly showed its intentions. As early as the 2nd minute, José Neto came close to opening the scoring with a cross-shot that passed very close to the Swiss goalpost.

The match heats up a few minutes later: Anísio Cabral forces Brogli into a crucial save in the 21st minute, before Switzerland responds immediately with an attempt by Mladen Mijalovic, stopped by an impeccable Romário Cunha.

Portugal presses, creates the best opportunities... and finally gets rewarded. In the 41st minute, Anísio Cabral executes a perfect oriented control in the box and inadvertently sets up Mateus Mide, who calmly finishes to open the scoring.

Upon returning from the dressing rooms, the Seleção doesn't give its opponent a moment's respite. After a cross from the right, the ball crosses the entire Swiss surface to reach the feet of José Neto. The full-back controls, sets... and sends a magnificent strike into the top right corner. A sumptuous goal, a symbol of the technical quality of this Portuguese generation.

Leading 2–0, Portugal manages the game perfectly. The Swiss try to come back, notably through Mijajlovic in the 81st minute, but Romário Cunha makes another decisive save to preserve the score.
