Premier League deadline deals for players you've probably never heard of

  /  autty

It was a busy transfer deadline day on Thursday for Premier League clubs as they sought to conclude their business in earnest before the start of the new season.

£128m was spent with 25 players arriving in England, with the likes of Fulham and Leicester leading the way with big-money moves.

While 10 years ago £30m may have bought  Dimitar Berbatov and Robinho, this summer the same outlay hasn't quite delivered the same household names.

Here Sportsmail take you through some of the deals for players you may never have come across before...

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa - Marseille £30m - Fulham

Fulham smashed their transfer record on Thursday to bring in Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa from Marseille.

The Cameroon international is a central midfielder, who spent three years in the south of France without finding the back of the net.

He starred in Marseille's run to the Europa League final last season but was unable to prevent defeat by Atletico Madrid.

Caglar Soyuncu - Freiburg £19m - Leicester

Leicester bolstered their options in the centre of defence with the acquisition of Turkish international Caglar Soyuncu.

The 22-year-old spent two years in the Bundesliga with Freiburg and has become a regular for his national side in the meantime.

The 6ft 2in defender is strong in the air but likes to bring the ball out from the back and idolised Carles Puyol in his youth.

Filip Benkovic - Dinamo Zagreb £13.5m - Leicester

The second of two defensive reinforcements for Leicester on deadline day, Filip Benkovic joined on a five-year deal.

At 21-years-old he represents the future at the heart of the Foxes' backline having represented Croatia across the youth levels.

He stands at 6ft 4in, and will provide a threat from set-pieces, finding the net six times in 88 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb.

Martin Montoya – Valencia £6.5m - Brighton

Brighton splashed the cash to bring in former Spanish youth international Martin Montoya, who has not yet reached the potential he hinted at early in his career.

A graduate of Barcelona's La Masia academy having joined the club at the age of nine, the right back made 67 appearances in five years at the Nou Camp.

Two years at Valencia brought him consistent game time for the first time in his career, but an unsuccessful short loan spell at Inter Milan hints that the 27-year-old may struggle outside of his home country.

Luciano Vietto – Atletico Madrid loan - Fulham

Highly-rated Argentine striker Luciano Vietto has endured four difficult years in European football since leaving South America.

A return of 20 goals in 48 appearances in his first season at Villarreal suggested few initial teething problems, but a move to Atletico Madrid in 2015 failed to bear fruit.

Loan spells at Sevilla and Valencia brought mixed results. At 23 he will hope another temporary move, this time to the Premier League, will help him fulfill those early expectations.

Isaac Mbenza - Montpellier loan - Huddersfield

Huddersfield survived their first season in the Premier League, but badly needed to add some attacking thrust ahead of their second.

In 22-year-old Isaac Mbenza they will hope to have found their solution.

The Belgian Under 21 international scored 10 times in 43 appearances for Montpellier last year, and at 6ft 2in is sure to provide an aerial presence, though he prefers to play out wide.

Leander Dendoncker - Anderlecht loan - Wolves

The most high-profile of those under the radar deals that defined transfer deadline day on Thursday saw Wolves snare Leander Dendoncker on a season-long loan deal.

The 23-year-old played for Belgium at the 2018 World Cup having become a key part of Anderlecht's starting XI over the last four seasons.

The deep-lying midfielder is tall and strong, and has impressed against English opponents in the past, netting against Manchester United in the Europa League in 2017.
