President of France Emmanuel Macron wants to take a group of injured national team players to the World Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

Players such as Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante have all missed out on Les Bleus' terrific World Cup campaign due to respective injuries sustained in recent weeks.

However, Macron wants to get these players involved at the final hurdle by bringing them along for the final clash against Argentina this weekend.

According to MARCA, France's sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera confirmed Macron's interest in bringing injured players to the final.

She said: 'I know that he is keen to do it and that it is being studied. We will see if it is possible.'

Benzema, Pogba and Kante have all sustained injuries this year that ruled them out of the tournament, however Real Madrid striker Benzema has now returned to training for his domestic side.

France national team coach Dider Deschamps was recently asked whether Benzema might feature from the bench during the game, having recovered from injury.

Deschamps responded with a rather blunt statement: 'Next question.'

The 34-year-old striker featured in Real Madrid's 1-1 with Leganes on Thursday afternoon as he made his return to football from injury.

The forward sustained an injury mid-November that national team doctors, initially, ruled him out for until the end of the World Cup.

However, he's returned prior to France's game with Argentina - though will not be involved on the pitch during the game.
