RB Leipzig boss Nagelsmann reveals meeting Haaland to discuss transfer

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has held transfer talks with Erling Haaland.

The Bundesliga side, owned by Red Bull like Haaland's side RB Salzburg, tried to convince the highly-rated young striker that he should join Leipzig.

Manchester United have been considered front-runners for the 19-year-old but it appears they have legitimate competition.

Nagelsmann revealed the discussions in an interview with Kicker: 'I tried to explain to him in good English what my idea of football is. I think it went quite well', he said.

'You can say relatively little after such conversations, because they are usually very one-sided. You say a lot as a coach while the agent and the player mostly listen.'

Haaland is also understood to have held talks with Borussia Dortmund and is assessing his options.

Leipzig play Dortmund next week and Nagelsmann hinted that the result may have an impact on where the Norwegian forward ends up.

'You'll have to ask him about that. It could be a factor,' he added.
