RFEF do not authorise postponement of Sevilla vs Barca and Villarreal vs Alaves

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have not given the green light for the postponement of two Matchday 4 games in LaLiga Santander: Sevilla vs Barcelona and Villarreal vs Alaves.

LaLiga requested the aforementioned fixtures to be moved as players of those teams have been called up for international duty with their respective national teams for their World Cup Qualifiers in South America and will not arrive in time to be at their coaches' disposal for the games, which were initially scheduled to take place on September 11.

The RFEF understand that these circumstances do not constitute a force majeure cause for the suspension of a match and for this reason the federation rejected LaLiga's request and asked for the games to go ahead.

LaLiga are expected to schedule both games for Saturday, September 11, as both Barcelona and Villarreal are set to play their Champions League openers against Bayern Munich and Atalanta respectively three days later on Tuesday, September 14.
