There is a feeling among the Real Madrid camp that Zinedine Zidane could terminate his contract early.
The Frenchman, who is contracted to the club in 2022, is said to have grown 'tired of dealing with events outside of his control'.
As a result, reports claim there are a growing number of players and staff members who believe there will be a change at the helm next season.
According to Goal, a 'tired and annoyed' Zidane is prepared to step down from his position as the Real Madrid manager.
Zidane has completed the majority of the season with an injury-ravaged squad and is said to be frustrated with the available players at his disposal.
The LaLiga manager also feels he has been unfairly criticised for Real Madrid's results this season.
He believes the squad's injury status combined with the hectic schedule following the coronavirus pandemic has caused their poor form this season.
Zidane was heavily criticised for Wednesday's Champions League exit to Chelsea - as the LaLiga giants lost 2-0 away at Stamford Bridge to crash out of the tournament.
Their European downfall has added to Zidane's sour feelings about the club during the current circumstances.
Goal also added that the Frenchman has become bored with his daily routine amid Covid-19 restrictions.
He is tired of the endless rounds of testing and the strict protocols that have seen him 'shower at home and carry out preparatory work away from his players'.
He also believes his inability to train a 'star-studded squad' at Valdebebas due to the restrictions has removed the fun associated with the job.
Despite Zidane's current feelings, the Real Madrid the board are hopeful that they can convince the French manager to stay at the club next season.
Both parties are said to be in negotiations over the manager's future - although Zidane has remained coy when quizzed at his pre-match press conferences.
Should Real Madrid fail to agree terms with Zidane, they will have to look to replace the legendary manager.
Club legend Raul - who plying his trade within the Castilla ranks - has been touted as a potential replacement for the Frenchman.
Joachim Low - who will walk away from the German national side after this summer's European Championship - could come in to replace Zidane.
Ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is also said to be in the running for the LaLiga job.
