At 16:45 UTC on October 20, Sabah Baku will host Borussia Dortmund in the third round of the Champions League group stage at the Baku Olympic Stadium. According to Sky Germany, 55,000 spectators are expected to attend, setting a new attendance record in Sabah Baku's history.
Sabah Baku was founded only nine years ago and usually draws just a few thousand fans for domestic league matches. However, their European home games are held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of 68,000 and hosted four Euro 2021 matches.
Last week, Sabah Baku secured their first Champions League victory in club history with a 2-0 win over Slavia Prague, a match that drew approximately 30,000 spectators. Tonight's match against Borussia Dortmund is expected to almost double that figure, with Sabah Baku officially announcing ticket sales far exceeding expectations.
On November 25, Sabah Baku will play their Champions League home game against Barcelona.
