Jamie Redknapp has hailed Kevin De Bruyne has the best midfielder in Premier League history after his stunning goal helped Man City to a 4-0 win over Brighton.

The Belgian superstar scored a diving header after 17 minutes to give Pep Guardiola's side the lead at the Amex Stadium.

Redknapp compared the header to Robin van Persie's famous goal for the Netherlands at the 2010 World Cup against Spain.

The Sky Sports pundit believes the Belgian's ability to do things that are 'out of this world' elevates him to be the best midfielder in Premier League history.

'Kevin De Bruyne, we've seen some greats, like [Steven] Gerrard, [Frank] Lampard, David Silva, Yaya Toure, unbelievable attacking midfielders, he's the top one for me,' Redknapp said.

'He does things that are out of this world. The passes that he has seen throughout his career, since coming to the PL, there are not many that can do that.

'He can score all types of goals I didn't expect diving headers. I'm in awe of him every time I see him.'

Redknapp added that the 32-year-old has been the perfect role model for Phil Foden.

Foden continued his stunning season, while has seen him emerge as favourite to be named player of the year, by scoring twice against the Seagulls.

'You need good role models. It's great for Phil Foden to see the likes of KDB everyday,' Redknapp said.

'There's no doubt that's why Phil Foden has put on the performances he has because he's seen great role models, and to be a great team you need to have great senior players.'
