Report: Chelsea tell Havertz he’ll be sold unless one thing happens

  /  Stamfordblue

Chelsea have told Kai Havertz he'll be sold this summer unless he signs a new deal, according to reports.

Kai Havertz, 23, is currently linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Daily Mail claims that Chelsea have now explained to Havertz they'll look to move him on if he doesn't extend his current deal. The 23-year-old's about to enter the final two years of his contract and the club's hierarchy are cautious about allowing players to run their deals down.

It is understood that the Blues would prefer the Germany international to commit his long-term future with them, but he may be available to sell if that doesn't happen.

The report names Spanish giants Real Madrid as an interested buyer in the Chelsea forward.

German publication BILD claimed this week that Real Madrid are closing in on signing Havertz for around £52million.

We're still waiting for more publications to follow up the Havertz rumours, but the report above says the Chelsea attacker's possible move to Madrid is becoming more and more concrete.

Havertz cost Chelsea a huge £71million transfer fee to sign from Bayer Leverkusen three years ago.

Aside from scoring the winning goal in a Champions League final, Blues supporters have mainly been underwhelmed and disappointed with his impact in west London.

The left-footed attacker doesn't suit the No 9 position whenever he's played there. Also, he's guilty of ghosting his way through certain games.

It says a lot about his ability that a giant like Madrid are in for him, so perhaps now is the right time to cash in.
