The Blaugrana club is already taking the necessary steps to find a replacement for the Polish striker.
SPORT:
FC Barcelona's decision not to renew Robert Lewandowski's contract is becoming increasingly clear. His age, his decline in performance, and the fact that he can no longer pressurise opponents at the same pace as his teammates are all clear indicators.
The decision has been made: the 37-year-old Polish striker has already completed his time at Barcelona. He will not continue next year, and the necessary steps are already being taken to find a replacement, which is a priority objective in planning for next season, along with a right-back.
He cannot start next season with a right forward with that profile. His replacement, rather than Julián Alvarez or another established player, is more likely to be someone like Etta Eyong, from Levante, to compete with Ferran Torres.
It remains to be seen whether Lewandowski decides to extend his sporting career for another year or two or finally opts for retirement and settles permanently in Catalonia, as seems to be the wish of his family, especially his wife Ana. No one dares to predict where Lewandowski will play, as he is very cautious when referring to his situation.
He certainly does not seem to be accepting any offers that may come his way from the Arab world, and if he were to extend his sporting career, he would do so closer to Barcelona. There was talk of the Blaugrana club trying to renew his contract and seek a transfer to an Arab country, but this does not seem very feasible.
