According to Mundo Deportivo, as soon as Romero's transfer was officially announced, he met Simeone and his new teammates.

The report states that early on Saturday, local time, Atletico Madrid officially announced the signing of Cristian Romero. The Argentine center-back completed his medical on Friday and signed a contract with his new club.
Just an hour after the transfer was announced, the defender was already at the sports city, wearing the red and white jersey.
There was no time to waste in helping him settle in. Romero had already met Diego Simeone, who had pushed strongly for his arrival, as well as a host of new teammates, including Alvarez, with whom he has a good off-field relationship, and his Argentine compatriots Musso and Giuliano.
After the meeting, Romero began his first training session at Atletico Madrid, starting in the gym on a stationary bike before stepping onto the pitch to officially begin working with the ball as a Rojiblancos player.
