On the evening of November 5, Ronaldo announced his departure from the Portugal national team. His former agent, Jorge Mendes, posted a message on social media to pay tribute to him.
Jorge Mendes wrote
You are the greatest idol in Portugal and the world. You defined an era.
I repeat: Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player in the history of football. 🐐
We, the people of Portugal, want to say to you: Thank you, Cristiano.
There will never be another player like you in the world. 🐐🇵🇹👑
Ronaldo and Mendes worked together for 20 years, with Mendes serving as his agent from 2002. Their partnership ended in late 2022.
