It was the moment that perhaps decided the match. With the scores level, Ismael Doukouré slid in on Malick Fofana. The RC Strasbourg Alsace defender was initially shown a yellow, but following the intervention of VAR, it was upgraded to red. Malick Fofana, the victim of the challenge, left the field on a stretcher, but his side ultimately prevailed thanks to a last-gasp winner for Olympique Lyonnais (2-1).

Liam Rosenior didn’t agree with the decision to send off Doukouré. “It (the red card) isn’t deserved. It perhaps isn’t your opinion, but it is mine. The referee judged the injury, not the action. The card should never be red, it should be yellow,” said the Strasbourg manager.
Fofana left the pitch on a stretcher, loaded onto the back of a buggy. It was feared that the Belgium international had suffered a severe ankle injury, however, RMC Sport reported on Monday morning that initial scans have not shown a fracture. Fofana will undergo further tests and, despite the positive report, will still likely miss several weeks of action for Les Gones.
