Liverpool drew level with Man United on 20 titles yesterday after Ruben Amorim watched his side narrowly avoid defeat to Bournemouth.
Ruben Amorim has reiterated Manchester United's "ultimate goal" is to win the Premier League title after Liverpool drew level with them on 20 titles.
Liverpool clinched their second title in the last 35 years on Sunday evening, 12 years on from United's 20th championship in Sir Alex Ferguson's final season in charge.
United are currently 14th in the Premier League and could suffer their worst domestic season in 51 years, but are targeting a title triumph in 2028.
"The first thing is to focus on ourselves and not on the other teams," Amorim stressed. "The next thing is to be really honest.
"We are in different levels in this moment, but then explain that everything can change. I remember when I start seeing Premier League, was the opposite. So everything can change.
"We need to focus on step by step, not try to think too far ahead. We have an ultimate goal that is winning the Premier League. Again, I’m not crazy, I know it’s not going to be next year, but we are trying to build something and the small things are really important and we did that during this year.
"We need to improve next year. It’s really important for the fans, we know that, but we need to be honest with them and to work hard every day."
United drew 1-1 away at Bournemouth after Rasmus Hojlund prodded in a 96th-minute equaliser. Bournemouth were minutes away from a first domestic double over United, who have crept up to 39 points.
Bournemouth were reduced to ten men when Evanilson was dismissed in the 70th minute and Amorim felt United dropped two points, rather than gaining one.
"It was a tough game," Amorim admitted. "The start of the game was hard for us, high pressure from the opponent, we lose some possessions in our build up and the goal is like that.
"If you look at our games, it is always a little bit our fault, the way we suffer goals and then everything is so much harder to do. But if you look at the game, especially second half and with the sending off, we arranged ways to get inside the box, that is something we are improving.
"We created chances, we managed to score one but I feel we lost two points."
