Sampaoli's Argentina squad: no Icardi or Lautaro Martínez according to TyC Sports

National broadcacster TyC claims to have had advance access to the Argentina boss' final 23 for the tournament, with a few surprises included.

Jorge Sampaoli is set to announce his final 23-player squad for the World Cup in Russia on Monday and national broadcaster TyC Sports claims to have had access to the list.

Argentina, runners-up in Brazil four years ago, face Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in the group stages as they seek their first World Cup triumph since 1986.

According to TyC Sports, there will be no place in the squad for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi or Racing revelation Lauro Martínez, while relative newcomers Maximiliano Meza of Independiente and Torino’s Cristian Ansaldi expected to make the cut.

According to TyC Sports, Sampaoli’s Argentina squad will be as follows.

Keepers: Sergio Romero, Franco Armani, Willy Caballero.

Defenders: Cristian Ansaldi, Marcos Rojo, Marcos Acuña, Nicolás Tagliafico, Gabriel Mercado, Nicolás Otamendi, Javier Mascherano, Federico Fazio.

Midfielders: Ever Banega, Lucas Biglia, Eduardo Salvio, Cristian Pavón, Maximiliano Meza, Ángel Di María, Manuel Lanzini, Giovani Lo Celso.

Forwards: Leo Messi, Paulo Dybala, Kun Agüero, Gonzalo Higuaín.
