Alexis Sanchez was apparently left fuming after clashing with youngster Mason Greenwood while on Manchester United's pre-season tour.

Sanchez, who suffered a hamstring injury in early July while playing for Chile in the Copa America, had an angry exchange with Greenwood following a tackle on the training pitch.

According to The Sun, the 30-year-old, who is United's best-paid player, was furious at being tackled, particularly after having suffered hamstring injuries before.

SunSport has been told angry words were exchanged between the pair as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men prepared for the new campaign.

And separately the Chile star also spent time working AWAY from the squad in his bid to return to action and play a part in United’s campaign.

Solskjaer insists Sanchez IS part of his plans despite his dips in form since arriving from Arsenal and his determination to bring young talent through.

Greenwood, 17, came off the bench for United at the weekend in their 4-0 win over Chelsea and is set to spend the season around the first-team squad.

Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also arrived in the summer and Scott McTominay started against Frank Lampard’s side on Sunday.

But Sanchez has been behind his team-mates in pre-season after going to the Copa America and getting injured in the third-place play-off.

Having missed Sunday's thrashing of Chelsea, he was due to appear in training at Carrington on Tuesday.

But injured defender Eric Bailly, who isn't expected to feature on the pitch until Christmas, is currently resting.

The Ivorian has had his knee operation and the long rehab ahead of him will commence soon.
