Serie A could scrap their plans to close January transfer window on January 18

The FIGC could scrap their plans to close the Serie A January transfer window on January 18, confirmed Gabriele Gravina. “We await the Lega Serie A decision.”

The decision to introduce the early deadline was made by former Federation Commissioner Giovanni Malagò over the summer.

It comes after the summer transfer deadline was also brought forward to ensure all deals were completed before Serie A football resumed.

However, with the window coming up and most leagues accepting moves until January 31, that could change.

“With regards to the January transfer window, I asked the Lega Serie A, as they are in a position of interest,” FIGC President Gravina told reporters.

“We await their decision after the Lega Serie A meeting and eventually, if they are open to it, I’ll proceed to ask FIFA for an extension to January 31.”
