Alan Shearer has furiously slammed the handball laws after Manchester City and Bayern Munich were both awarded penalties in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.
A 1-1 draw was enough for Pep Guardiola's side to progress after beating Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg.
Both teams were awarded spot kicks, with Erling Haaland missing his in the first half after Dayot Upamecano was penalised for handball despite his arms initially being behind his back.
This led to outrage online, with Shearer taking to Twitter to express his frustration with the law.
He said: 'What a load of s**t the hand ball law is. A complete mess.'
However, the Norway international could not convert from the spot as he sent his penalty high over the bar to see the teams head in goalless at half-time.
Haaland ended up opening the scoring in the second period, seizing on an error from Upamecano to put Guardiola's side even further ahead over the two legs.
Manuel Akanji was then penalised for Man City with ten minutes remaining on the clock, gifting Bayern an equaliser from the spot as he was deemed to have handled the ball.
Joshua Kimmich stepped up from the spot to see Bayern Munich draw level, with the match ending 1-1 at the Allianz Arena.
Shearer wasn't the only one to hit out at the rule, with Bayern boss Tuchel slamming the referee after the match as his side crashed out.
The result was enough to see Guardiola's City advance into the semi-final stage of the Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid after Los Blancos beat Chelsea over two legs.
A Milan derby awaits in the other semi-final, with Inter or AC Milan set to appear in this year's final.
Guardiola may join City fans in believing that this is their year to win the Champions League, but they will have to overcome the current holders on their way to do so in the next round.
The semi-finals will take place next month before the two finalists face off in Istanbul on June 10th this year.
