It is reported that before the first match of the FIFA World Cup group stage, Mexican fans cheered enthusiastically when Korean players came out to warm up; however, when Czech players appeared, they were met with boos. Especially when Son was introduced, there was thunderous applause from the crowd.
Additionally, it was reported that many Mexican fans at the venue were wearing Son's jerseys. This match was held at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico.
