Dominik Szoboszlai will undergo a Liverpool medical and complete one of the club’s biggest-ever transfers after agreeing a deal worth more than £100million in fee and wages, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are putting the finishing touches to a deal for the 22-year-old following Friday’s developments, when they triggered the £60million release clause in his RB Leipzig contract.

Liverpool activated the clause before it expired after reaching an agreement with Szoboszlai and his representatives on personal terms.

He has settled the terms of a long-term contract that will be worth more than £150,000-a-week when bonuses are taken in account.

Liverpool senior stars have a base salary that is then supplemented by top-up bonuses based on individual and team performances, including whether the team qualify for the Champions League and where they finish in the various competitions.

Szoboszlai will instantly join one of the higher salary brackets, although not quite at the level of star man Mohamed Salah, who become the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history when he signed a new three-year contract last summer.

The Hungary international now looks set to join Alexis Mac Allister at Anfield, who signed for £35million rising to a potential £55m, and become the club’s second marquee summer signing.

Szoboszlai made 44 appearances for Leipzig last season, scoring 10 goals and supplying 14 assists to help his side to a third-place Bundesliga finish.

His contract at the German club was set to run until June 2026.

The Hungary international has already managed 62 goals and 67 assists across 216 total career appearances despite being just 22 years old.

Szoboszlai has won two DFB-Pokal trophies with Leipzig to add to a wealth of domestic honours lifted during his time at Salzburg.
