Spain Sporting Director Albert Luque sacked amid involvement in legal cases

  /  autty

Spain’s Sporting Director Albert Luque is one of four sackings of directors that Spanish Football Federation President (RFEF) President Pedro Rocha has sanctioned. Luque has been suspended of late due to his involvement in the ongoing corruption investigation and accusations of coercion against him, after ex-President Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso without her consent.

According to Relevo, there are more sackings, but Luque is among fgour major names including Director of Marketing Ruben Rivera, who is also involved in the corruption and coercion cases, Legal Services Chief Pedro Gonzalez Segura, and Head of Operations and Human Resources, Jose Javier Jimenez or Jota. All four have been suspended or demoted since the 21st of March as following the investigation into the RFEF for corruption.

This follows on from the dismissals of Andreu Camps (General Seceretary), Tomas Gonzalez Cueto (External Legal Consultant), Miguel Garcia Caba (Director of Integrity) and Pablo Garcia Cuervo (Director of Comunication), as Rocha tries to clean house, although some still see him as a continuity candidate from Rubiales’ reign, given he was a vice-president under him.

FIFA are believed to be keeping a close eye on matters at the RFEF, as the power struggle for Spanish football continues, with the Ministry for Sport also involved. Ex-Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has been drafted in to supervise matters until fresh elections are called after the Euros.
