Spanish reporter Jose Felix Diaz called Kylian Mbappe a 'coward' and said he would 'never be a man' after the PSG striker 'misled' millions of people into thinking he was going to join Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old's future has been a topic of conversation in recent weeks as his current deal in the French capital is coming to an end this summer. Many believed the PSG striker was destined for Real Madrid.
However, despite the fact Real Madrid matched the terms offered by his current club, Mbappe announced his decision to commit his future to PSG prior to their game against Metz on Saturday night.
Diaz was furious with Mbappe's decision to stay with the Ligue 1 side as he felt the 23-year-old had not 'kept his word' after saying 'yes to Real Madrid'.
As a result, he launched a scathing attack on Mbappe - saying the striker 'will be a great player, but never a great man'.
Speaking live on Spanish TV, Diaz said: 'Just 10 days ago you were giving your word [to Real Madrid]. They sent you a shirt and you received it for your birthday.
'You were denying report that were proven to be true. Mbappe, you’re not a sportsman. You don’t keep your word. You’re not a man. It’s that clear. I can’t consider you as one.
'Why? Because you’ve misled millions of people, not only Florentino Perez. Just two weeks ago, or even 10 days ago, you still said ‘yes’.
'Then, you were so cowardly that you didn’t even phone, you just sent a message. You just showed what you are. You’re a man who doesn’t keep his word.
'You’ll be a great player, but never a great man.'
LaLiga were equally as annoyed and bitter about Mbappe's decision. As a result, the Spanish league wrote an extraordinary statement detailing their intentions to report PSG's actions to UEFA and the French authorities.
LaLiga stated their intention to file a complaint as they believe the terms of Mbappe's new contract at Paris Saint-Germain 'threatens the economic sustainability of European football.'
Fans were quick to take to social media to criticise LaLiga's decision - saying the Spanish league was 'embarrassing' itself.
'La Liga look like the biggest idiots in football right now with this their complaint!' one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another added: 'Stop embarrassing us @LaLiga. Your complaint ain't gonna do nothing.'
'Imagine Getting Rattled Over a Player Rejecting you And you File a complaint,' a fellow fan posted.
'Still can't believe the whole la liga is filing a complaint over the Mbappe deal, oh nerrr that league really fell off,' one Twitter user wrote.
The terms of Mbappe's new deal at the Parc des Princes have not yet been disclosed but it looks set to be an unprecedented contract.
It has been reported that the 23-year-old striker will receive a €150million (£126.7m) signing-on fee from the Ligue 1 giants.
It is also understood that he could now earn £4m per month, while having a say in hiring and firing managers at the club.
