Robert Lewandowski continued his potent form in front of goal as Bayern Munich beat Mainz 5-2 on Sunday. Hansi Flick's side had come back from two goals down to lead 3-2 before their Polish striker got on the scoresheet.

Lewandowski scored Bayern's fourth from the penalty spot before adding a fifth with his right foot in the closing stages of the Bundesliga contest.

It was the third Bundesliga game in a row that the forward had netted at least two goals, following doubles against Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach.

So far this season, Lewandowski has scored 19 goals in 14 games in the Bundesliga, with Erling Haaland's total of 10 the next best in Germany.

Lewandowski's tally of 19 includes four in one game against Hertha Berlin and a further five doubles - against Arminia Bielefeld, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg, Gladbach and now Mainz.
