Swansea hold discussions with former Chelsea assistant Jody Morris about becoming their new manager

Jody Morris has held talks with Swansea City regarding becoming their next manager.

The 42-year-old has been out of work since January when he lost his job as Chelsea assistant manager following Frank Lampard's sacking.

Swansea have also discussed MK Dons boss Russell Martin, though compensation would be required for the 35-year-old.

Former Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has also been considered as Swansea look to replace Steve Cooper, though Morris and Martin are frontrunners.

Cooper is understood to have left because of disagreements regarding transfer policy, and frustration with the proposed move of captain Matt Grimes to Fulham.

Swansea had hoped to appoint John Eustace after an interview last Thursday but he opted to remain at QPR instead.

Alan Tate is expected to take charge of Wednesday's pre-season clash with Forest Green Rovers.

The Welsh side are thought to be very keen to appoint a new boss as soon as possible, given the imminent start to the new campaign.

The Swans travel to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday August 7 for the first game of the Championship season - a match less than a fortnight away.
