Sweden remain 'hopeful' Rolfo will be fit for Euros after no fracture

The only two blots on an otherwise perfect night for Sweden Women in their 6-1 win over Denmark on Tuesday were the goal they conceded, and seeing left-sided star Fridolina Rolfo taken off in the first half with her leg in bandages.

Rolfo needed treatment for several minutes after a clash with Denmark's Josefine Hasbo, before being taken off in the 25th minute, as Sweden reached the UEFA Women's Nations League Finals.

It was feared the FC Barcelona Femeni player had suffered a leg fracture, which would rule her out of this summer's UEFA Women's Euro 2025 in Switzerland.

However, there was some reassurance from the Blagult's team doctor, Houman Ebrahimi, who described the injury situation as "hopeful", indicating it was not as bad as first suspected.

Further news came from the Swedish FA, who confirmed that Rolfo had not suffered a break.

"Fridolina has not suffered a fracture. Fridolina is now heading home to her club team for further treatment, and this is being done in dialogue between Barcelona's and the national team's medical teams."

While the left-back, who also plays as a left-sided forward, is clearly not at full fitness, the news is positive for Sweden ahead of the Women's Euro 2025, which begins in less than a month's time.

Sweden begin their campaign with another fixture against Denmark on 4th July in Geneva, before playing Poland in Luzern on the 8th and Germany in Zurich on the 12th to complete their Group C fixtures.
