According to the latest report from The Athletic, Liverpool may consider appointing Szoboszlai as captain if Virgil van Dijk leaves when his contract expires at the end of next season.
Reports indicate that Szoboszlai's versatility and consistency make him the most reliable player in the team, and his outstanding performance in the 1-0 Champions League victory against Real Madrid has solidified his status as one of the most important players.
Few doubt that Szoboszlai will be distracted, although his excellent performances have inevitably raised questions about when Liverpool will attempt to extend his contract (which expires in June 2028).
Currently, Szoboszlai is in preliminary talks with Liverpool regarding a contract extension, but club sources downplay the possibility of a swift agreement, given that Hrafinbech's contract also expires in 2028.
