Ten Hag confirms double Man Utd injury boost ahead of crunch Galatasaray clash

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Manchester United duo Rasmus Hojlund and Antony are both in contention to star in Wednesday night's Champions League clash at Galatasaray.

The stakes are high for the Red Devils as they know another loss would spell the end of their hopes of progression into the knockout rounds. Three defeats from their opening four games leaves United rock bottom of Group A, while also being just one point away from second.

After being on the wrong end of a 3-2 loss at the hands of Galatasaray at Old Trafford earlier on in the competition, it is up to Ten Hag's side to get revenge in Istanbul. The atmosphere United's players will walk into on Wednesday night is not for the faint-hearted, but they'll have two more attackers to call upon.

Ten Hag was without both Hojlund and Antony for Sunday's 3-0 win away at Everton, though the former was able to train on Tuesday morning. Antony was also put through his paces with the rest of the group and as a result, both have travelled to Turkey.

The United boss confirmed as much when speaking in his pre-match press conference before the squad jetted off, as he declared "they are in the squad." All of Hojlund's five goals for the club so far since his £72million summer switch have come in the Champions League and he'll be aiming to add to his tally on Wednesday.

Kobbie Mainoo came in for significant praise following his impressive performance against Everton and Ten Hag made clear he has no reservations about throwing him into the cauldron of tension and hostility that is Galatasaray away.

"If they are good enough, they are old enough," Ten Hag claimed, when discussing the prospect of Mainoo starting. "We are very pleased with the performance [at Everton], but it's one performance and you have to do it on a consistent basis. Kobbie is so mature, [but] you are only good as your last game.

"Keep your focus on the game. You have to focus on your game, your performance and get the right levels in. When we observe, if a player is moving away from football and getting distracted, we will tell them."

Amid all the noise around Mainoo's stock rising and the return of key attackers, Ten Hag knows the all-important thing in Istanbul is the win. Anything less and United will be fighting on one less front for the remainder of the campaign.
