FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has announced on his social media that he will undergo back surgery following consultations with the club’s medical team and external specialists. He shared an emotional message to fans, expressing his disappointment at missing time but affirming his commitment to a full recovery.

Dear culés,
I carry the colors and the jersey of FC Barcelona with great pride, whether on the field or off it, in moments of success as well as in difficult times. Today is a tough day for me on a personal level.
Physically and athletically, I feel in very good shape, although unfortunately, I am not free from pain. After intensive discussions with the FC Barcelona medical team and external experts, the fastest and safest way to fully recover is through back surgery.
After my last back operation, I returned to the field after 66 days, almost 2 months; this time, the doctors believe that about three months will be necessary as a precaution to avoid any risks.
On an emotional level, it hurts me a lot not to be able to support the team during this time, but fortunately, the rehabilitation is manageable, and the path to return is clear.
I will keep you updated on my recovery, and I want to sincerely thank all of you, dear culés, for always being by my side.
