Ter Stegen Addresses Injury, Surgery and Rumors in Social Media Statement

FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has taken to his social media accounts to share a lengthy statement addressing recent speculation about his injury, surgery, and contract-related rumors.

The German international revealed that the past few months have been “particularly difficult” both physically and personally, as he has worked to return to the pitch following surgery. Ter Stegen stressed that his sole priority has always been to recover as quickly as possible in order to help the team and continue competing.

In his message, he clarified that the decision to undergo surgery was made after consultation with medical professionals and with the full approval of the club, aiming to safeguard his health and long-term career. He underlined that his recovery timeline had been determined by trusted experts and communicated publicly, always in coordination with Barça.

Ter Stegen also addressed speculation that his surgery might have been linked to the registration of other players, firmly denying any such connection. He noted that all signings and contract renewals had been completed prior to his operation and described alternative interpretations as “unfair and inaccurate.”

Highlighting his commitment to professionalism and respect throughout his career, the 32-year-old reiterated his affection for FC Barcelona, the city, and its supporters. “My commitment to these colors remains absolute,” he wrote.

Concluding his post, Ter Stegen expressed his belief that dialogue and responsibility can help resolve any tensions, adding that he is fully willing to cooperate with the club’s management to find a constructive solution.

“A lot may have changed, but one thing never will: I love you, Culers!” he signed off.
