The Kane timeline: What are the key dates in his potential transfer?

  /  autty

There is at least one blockbuster transfer saga every summer and it looks like Harry Kane could be starring in this year's edition. However, the striker wants his future cleared up soon, before the European Championship.

With that in mind, here we look at all of the key dates in the Kane transfer timeline. Here is a look at the big moments that have occurred so far and at the dates that could be crucial moving forward.

May 17: Reports that Kane wants to leave

Kane has been linked with moves away before, but the story kicked off again on Monday, May 17, when Sky Sports reported that he had told the Spurs hierarchy of his desire to leave in search of trophies.

May 20: The interview with Gary Neville

The reports became something bigger when Kane himself spoke about his situation in an interview with Sky Sports' Gary Neville, which was released on Thursday. "I've given the club 16 years of my life, so I hope we can have a good, honest conversation and see where we're at," he said. "This season, I'm watching the Champions League and the English teams doing amazing and they're the games I want to be involved in. It's a moment in my career where I have to reflect and see where I'm at."

May 23: Kane's potential final Spurs game

This weekend will see Tottenham visit Leicester City, already aware that they can't make the Champions League whereas their opponents still could. That absence from Europe's top competition clearly bothers Kane and this could, therefore, be his final match in the white of Tottenham.

June 9: The transfer window opens

The Premier League have confirmed that the 2021 transfer window will open on June 9 and run for 12 weeks. If Kane is to move, a deal could only officially be put through after this date.

June 13: The first potential deadline

Kane reportedly wants his future sorted out before the European Championship, as he is determined to fully focus on this summer's tournament with England. June 13 is the date of England's first game at the competition, against Croatia. In theory, then, he wants his future resolved before then.

Mid-July: Pre-season

It's not clear yet when Kane would be expected to show up for Tottenham's pre-season, as this will depend on how far England go in Euro 2020. But, this will be another key date. If he is training this summer in Tottenham kit, that's a big development.

August 14: Start of the 2021/22 Premier League

The new Premier League season will kick off on August 14. With this over a month after the final of Euro 2020, Kane would be expected to play in this opening weekend's fixtures no matter how well England do this summer. So, this is another huge date in the diary.

August 31: Deadline day

In years past, the Premier League transfer deadline day has come before the start of the domestic season, but it has changed back to the old system. The deadline day for this summer's transfer window is August 31. Kane might well be at a new club by then. If not, there could be speculation right up to the final minute.
