But put together, the cream of the crop make up a side worthy of challenging for a top four finish.
There are several good goalies on the hunt for clubs this summer, including Belgium’s Euro No1 Koen Casteels.
However, David De Gea remains without a club a year after leaving United.
And he is unlikely to have lost any of the skills that made him one of English football’s greatest stoppers.
As for defence, left-back goes to Mario Hermoso, who has quit Atletico Madrid and can also play in the middle.
However, there are a plethora of top centre-backs available.
First up is Germany icon Mats Hummels, who has departed Borussia Dortmund after helping them reach the Champions League final.

The ideal partner for him is Joel Matip, let go by Liverpool after his last season was blighted by injury problems.
As for right-back, an interesting choice would be Raphael Varane.
Although used in the centre by United, he has played on the right at times throughout his career.
And Varane could operate in a hybrid role that sees him tuck inside for extra protection,
The move could work wonders too, as ahead of him in midfield is Tanguy Ndombele.
The silky technician has left Tottenham after spending last season at Napoli.
His versatility means he can drift out to the right and pick the ball up from Varane before powering up the pitch.
But the midfield gets even better with the addition of Thiago Alcantara as a deep-lying playmaker.
Like Matip, he was released by Liverpool after being hit by injuries.
Yet Thiago was so good at his peak that there are sure to be several top clubs keeping an eye on him.
The final midfield position goes to Adrien Rabiot, who is still performing at the highest level with France at the Euros.
He has been unable to agree a new deal with Juventus, who have already moved for several new midfielders.
And that could finally open the door to a Man United transfer, who have long been admirers of his talents.
Up front, the first of the three attacking positions goes to Marcus Reus.
Another Dortmund legend, he has called time on his career with the club for one final challenge.
And the other two spots are occupied by ex-Red Devils in Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay.
The latter is another let go by Atletico Madrid, despite leading the line for Holland at the Euros.
Depay has shown he still has what it takes to cut it at the top level and will be holding out for a big team.
As for Martial, he never hit his stride at Old Trafford and will be eager to prove his critics wrong at his next club.
But he may struggle to command a similar £250,000-a-week pay package.
