The staggering weekly wage Salah reportedly wants to extend Liverpool contract

Liverpool’s contract spree

Liverpool were been overly active on the transfer front this summer, signing just one senior player to improve their squad for the 2021/22 campaign.

Where they have been busy, however, has been in tying their current stars down to new deals.

Curtis Jones penned fresh terms in July.

Then, in August, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson and Nat Phillips all agreed new contracts with the club.

Salah contract update

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp and co. do also seem to have been attempting to sign Mohamed Salah, arguably Liverpool’s best player, to a new deal as well.

Klopp indicated that talks were ongoing over a new deal last month, but we are yet to see an official announcement made regarding an extension.

Salah is currently only tied down at Anfield until 2023, which could likely mean that if Liverpool wish to cash in on the Egyptian, they would have to sell him next summer when he will have just one year left on his current deal.

Of course, Liverpool could get him to agree a new deal to avoid this, but it appears that Salah is demanding a fairly high salary in order to extend his stay on Merseyside.
