The countdown continues towards the start of the largest Club World Cup in history. For the first time, 32 clubs will compete to be crowned the best team on the planet.
Although clubs from Mexico and the United States have filled all of CONCACAF’s slots at the Club World Cup, Central America will also be represented at the tournament.
According to FIFA’s list, a total of four Central American players will participate in the event in the U.S.
Which Central Americans are at the CWC?
El Salvador leads Central America’s Club World Cup contingent with two players, while Guatemala and Honduras each contribute one player.
Led by young Salvadoran Nathan Ordaz, the Central Americans aim to make their mark in the upcoming tournament. Ordaz, who plays for MLS club Los Angeles FC, hopes to make history and help the Black and Gold to advance to the next knockout stages.
Also on the LAFC roster is Matthew Evans, who has Guatemalan heritage. Despite being born in the U.S., Evans represents the ‘Bicolor’ at international level, making his debut this week in a World Cup qualifier against Jamaica.
From Honduras, David Ruíz will play in the Club World Cup with MLS Supporters’ Shield holders Inter Miami. Additionally, Salvadoran Alex Roldán will compete in the tournament with U.S. club Seattle Sounders.
When does the CWC start?
