Before kick-off, Diogo Jota's two children, Dinis and Duarte, are expected to take to the Anfield pitch as ball boys. This fixture pits together the two clubs Jota represented during his professional career.
This will mark the first meeting between Liverpool and Wolves since July. The Portuguese international tragically lost his life in a car accident in north-western Spain while travelling to Liverpool for the team's pre-season training. His brother, André Silva, also perished in the incident. This tragedy unfolded mere days after Jota had married his long-term partner, sparking an outpouring of grief and tributes across the global football community. Liverpool FC subsequently decided to retire his number 20 shirt – the number he wore throughout his time at Anfield – as a permanent tribute to his spirit and memory within the club.
