Tottenham are already prepared to sell Brazilian full-back Emerson Royal - just over six months after joining the club from Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League since his £26m deadline day move last summer.

His erratic displays have come under some criticism, while Matt Doherty, also challenging for the same position, has impressed in recent games.

The Sun have now reported that Spurs are preparing to let Royal leave club and are ready to listen to offers.

Tottenham have struggled at the right back position ever since Kieran Trippier left the club in 2019.

Doherty has also struggled at times since he arrived at the club from Wolves, but he is now said to be manager Antonio Conte's top choice in the right wing-back position.

His position has been strengthened by scoring a goal and providing three assists in just his last two league games alone.

Royal, has made 33 appearances in all competitions and has made a number of costly mistakes.

He hasn't offered much going forward either, providing just one assist in all competitions.

It's reported that if Royal is sold this summer, then Spurs could look to sign Djed Spence from Nottingham Forest as his replacement.

Spence has been the subject of interest from several Premier League teams this season after his impressive performances for Forest.

He received rave reviews in particular for his display against Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal, who Forest beat 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup in January.
