Tottenham news: The latest Spurs headline, stories and gossip with updates on Arne Slot, transfers and Daniel Levy

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Saturday, May 20.

Slot responds to Spurs links

Tottenham's new manager favourite, Arne Slot, has responded to reports linking the Dutchman to the club. The current Feyenoord boss has moved ahead of other candidates as the clear bookmakers favourite to take over in north London.

After Julian Nagelsmann ruled himself out of contention and with Mauricio Pochettino seemingly on his way to fierce London rivals Chelsea, Spurs have turned to Roma's Tiago Pinto, Slot and another unnamed candidate.

Ex-Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Tim Steidten is also understood to be in the mix to join over the summer, with Fabio Paratici's influential position now vacant.

When asked about the move, Slot refused to comment specifically on Tottenham but did say: "If my next step is in the Netherlands, I completely failed in the next few years."

Joe Lewis value rockets

Takeover talks continue to roll on at Tottenham with previous reports this year linking them with MSP Sports Capital and chairman Jahm Najafi as a potential buyer.

Current chairman Daniel Levy and owner Joe Lewis have grown increasingly unpopular at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a worrying lack of direction on the pitch.

Despite this, Lewis' net worth has continued to rise. According to the Sunday Times Rich List Lewis is now worth £800m more than he was last year.

Slot hint and Levy message

Despite entering a summer of uncertainty, Tottenham are choosing wisely if they manage to appoint Arne Slot as their new head coach after the Dutchman's impressive rebuild at Feyenoord.

Only four of his starting XI for the Europa Conference League final against Roma remain at the club this season after Luis Sinisterra, Tyrell Malacia and Marcos Senesi moved on, to name a select few.

Spurs may well need similar levels of resetting this summer with the squad muddled and largely built for Antonio Conte. Luckily for Spurs, Slot has a track record of doing just such a thing and loves working with young players, too.
