During an appearance on a podcast programme, Totti and Vieri discussed a number of topics.

Totti stated without hesitation: "Our generation was of such a high calibre during that era that it's virtually impossible to imagine so many outstanding players gathering together again. It simply wouldn't happen."
Vieri then added: "Back then, so many teams were capable of challenging for the league title. Just think of those finishing seventh... they'd be lambasted by fans and the media. Every side possessed genuine championship-calibre players."
The former players also discussed Totti's retirement. Vieri revealed: "I wrote to him urging him not to retire, to keep playing." Totti responded: "I told him it wasn't up to me. Only in Italy, when you reach 36 or 37, do they tell you it's time to retire, that you can't hold your own anymore."
Finally, Totti addressed VAR: "It's a waste of time. If you score, you don't know if it counts. You wait five minutes, have an aperitif, and they're still reviewing the footage."
