Match Report
The cup final unfolded perfectly for the Yellow-Reds. Head coach Okan Buruk’s side took the lead as early as the sixth minute. Victor Osimhen played the ball to the right side of the penalty area, where Yunus Akgün, positioned brilliantly, laid it back to the penalty spot. There, Barış Alper Yılmaz struck the ball with the inside of his right foot into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0. The teams went into halftime with that scoreline intact. Immediately after the restart, star striker Victor Osimhen (46th minute) delivered the decisive second goal. Akgün once again acted as the provider, feeding Osimhen on the right side of the box. The Nigerian overpowered his marker with physicality and fired a powerful, low right-footed shot from a tight angle into the near post to put Galatasaray up 2-0.
After just over an hour, the game was effectively sealed. Substitute Álvaro Morata played a sublime pass to the right side of the penalty area, where Akgün outmaneuvered two defenders and delivered a textbook cross in front of goal for Osimhen (63rd minute). The Nigerian made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the top left corner from close range to make it 3-0. With his 35th official goal of the season, Osimhen surpassed Mario Jardel (34) as Galatasaray's highest-scoring foreign player in a single campaign. In the 73rd minute, Anthony Nwakaeme netted what seemed to be a consolation goal (1-3) following a setup by Oleksandr Zubkov, but the effort was ruled out due to an offside call against Zubkov during the buildup. On the other end, Morata's late goal (90th minute) was also disallowed for offside against the Spaniard. The match ended 3-0 in favor of Galatasaray.
