Trying to impress the new owners, Timo? Werner trades Chelsea blue for Todd Boehly's LA dodgers blue

Chelsea striker Timo Werner posed for a photo dressed in the blue of Major League Baseball outfit LA Dodgers - who are also owned by American billionaire Todd Boehly.

Werner was enjoying a well-earned break from football having endured a long and arduous season, before joining up with the German national team for their four Nations League games against Italy, England and Hungary.

But after struggling once again to perform for the Blues, the 26-year-old could be on his way out of the club this summer, as Boehly and Thomas Tuchel look to reinforce a side that promised a lot at the start of last season before dropping away to a third placed finish.

After a high profile switch from RB Leipzig, Werner had a disappointing first season with just six goals in 35 Premier League appearances.

Struggling to adapt in your first season in a new division may be frustrating but it is at least understandable, especially for a younger striker with no experience outside of the Bundesliga.

But scoring only four goals in 21 league games in your second season is almost unforgivable in the cut throat world of professional football, especially when you cost your team £47.7million.

As a result, Tuchel may have run out of patience with the Germany international as he looks to rejuvenate a side that withered towards the tail end of last season.

Another striker looking to be on his way out of the club is Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who arrived for a club record £101.7m fee from Inter Milan last summer.

Despite four goals in his first four games, Lukaku struggled to work his way back into Thomas Tuchel's plans after an injury, before hitting out at his manager in an explosive Sky Italia interview and only scored another five league goals all season.

He is therefore expected to leave Stamford Bridge and head back to Inter, who are keen to re-sign him on an initial loan deal this summer.

In an attempt to bring in some attack reinforcements, reports suggest the Blues are keen on bringing Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling to the club after he has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad of late.

Tuchel is keen to lure Sterling away from the Etihad this summer, with the 27-year-old so far unable to agree a new contract with the Premier League champions.

However, a move to Stamford Bridge hinges on the prospect of Lukaku ending his second spell at the club and returning to the San Siro, according to The Mirror.
