Yamal endured another difficult night. Although he scored a goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Barcelona still lost 4-2 at the Parc des Princes; the Spanish winger then failed to deliver a convincing performance in the 2-1 El Clásico defeat to Real Madrid at the Camp Nou. The Footmercato editorial team gave him a rating of 3, as Yamal was completely contained by Real Madrid's tough defense, much like he had struggled against Paris Saint-Germain a few days prior.
In an interview with DAZN after the match, Umtiti did not hide his disappointment with Yamal's performance. The former Barcelona and France defender pointed out that Yamal struggled against the Real Madrid defense: "We didn't see a brilliant Yamal. It's at times like these that you realize football is very tough, even for a player like him. Real Madrid's defense contained him very well."
