Víctor Font responds to the delay in returning to Camp Nou: "We're making fools of ourselves with unfulfilled promises."

Barça is now scheduled to return home on September 14.

The news that Barcelona will not be able to return to the Spotify Camp Nou to compete in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10th has been a major blow for the Blaugrana, which now aims to return to its home ground on September 14th when it plays its first La Liga match against Valencia.

Amid this controversy, Víctor Font , former candidate for the Barça presidency, reacted to the statement shared by the club, strongly questioning the board for a new delay in the return to Camp Nou and pointing out that "they  have made a fool of themselves again . "

" It's incredible that, despite being the best club in the world, we make a fool of ourselves with our constant broken promises . We already knew that the Camp Nou is a great building, so it was very surprising to see an advertising campaign celebrating that we would return to it on August 10th, even though no industry expert thought it was feasible," Font began by saying on his Twitter account.

"There's no need to play with Barcelona fans' expectations like this. The mildest way to assess it is that we're dealing with yet another case of improvisation, willful thinking, and incompetent management. But the line between this and deception is very thin ," he added.

Font demanded that the board be transparent with its members, lamenting the uncertainty surrounding Barça's return to Camp Nou on September 14.

"Who's taking responsibility? Why was the contract awarded to a company that was supposed to be cheaper and faster, when it's not being either of those? And where will we play La Liga and Champions League matches starting September 14, when we're supposed to resume playing competitive matches at Camp Nou? " he questioned.

The problem of the Champions League

Despite once again delaying their return to their home ground, Barcelona remains optimistic and is working toward being back home for the weekend of September 13th and 14th, when they host Valencia.

However, the biggest problem for Barça would be not being able to play the first match of the Champions League group stage , as European regulations require all first-round matches to be played at the same venue. The schedule is not yet known, but the first matchday is set for September 16-18, and the second for September 30-October 1. However, the club hopes not to have to worry about this scenario and maintains the weekend of September 13-14 as the official opening date. It's also worth remembering that the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc also has concerts scheduled for the coming months . For example, Post Malone will perform on Friday, September 12.
