Liverpool's Alisson Becker and Virgil Van Dijk, Chelsea's Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud are the nominees for our All Football Player of the Week, with five of them included in our All Football Team of the Week.
Alisson Becker (Liverpool)
Alisson made 8 incredible saves to help Liverpool clinch the UCL trophy and deny Tottenham from finding the net.
The Brazilian goalie's superb first season at Anfield (Before the UCL final clean sheet, Alisson also picked up Premier League Golden Glove with 21 clean sheets) culminated in playing a part in club football’s biggest game and he was Liverpool’s star man.
One wonderful pass to Mohamed Salah was a moment that stood out in terms of his distribution, but most important were huge saves from Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen.
Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)
Premier League PFA Players' Player of the Year was always going to be a huge figure in Madrid and he was precisely that.
The Dutchman was immaculate in all facets of his play, with one vital interception on Son showing just how quick he is.
Van Dijk kept the returning Harry Kane quiet and made a last-ditch challenge to deny Heung-min Son in the second-half.
No-one has completed a dribble past Van Dijk in any of his last 64 appearances for Liverpool.
A monster of a footballer who has produced an outrageously impressive season. Ballon d'Or loading?
Olivier Giroud (Chelsea)
Again resigned to rotational appearances, Giroud has made the Europa League his own this season, scoring 11 goals in 15 games – finishing as the competition’s outright top scorer, one ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic.
The Golden Boot was secured with a wonderul header shortly after half-time, getting in front of compatriot and former team-mate Laurent Koscielny to give Chelsea the lead.
But not only that, it was a goal which broke a record for the Frenchman. First, it made Giroud the first player from France to reach 11 goals in a single campaign of a major European cup, beating a record set by French legend Just Fontaine.
It also saw Giroud become the first player to score 11 goals in a major European competition while representing an english club since Alan Shearer reached that tally in 2004/05 with Newcastle United.
Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Like most of the players on the pitch, the Belgian had a less-than-impressive first half, not quite looking up to speed. But when Chelsea needed someone to step things up and take control, Hazard was the man to do it.
Hazard linked up well on the left flank to second up Pedro for Chelsea’s second – an assist to put daylight between the Blues and Arsenal.
Then game the moment many had been waiting for, as Chelsea were awarded a penalty and a chance to wrap up the game. There was little doubt that Hazard would be the man to take it, and the Belgian stepped up to score, netting his 20th goal of the season – the first time he has reached that tally in his Chelsea career.
