Barcelona manager Valverde has confirmed Ter Stegen will not play the Catalan Derby against Espanyol.
Valverde: "Ter Stegen has had some problems in his tendon for a while now. We might keep him out for a short period of time. He won't be available for tomorrow, and it's unlikely he will defend our goal in the Super Cup."
"Surgery for Ter Stegen? I don't know, I'm not a doctor. We haven't reached that extreme just yet," he continued.
Valverde: "Neto has a great attitude, both in training and when he has played. He showed it against Inter, he had not participated and was at a great level. We have no doubts with him. He has to play, face complicated games but there is full confidence in him."
