Virgil van Dijk is weighing up a contract offer worth £16.8million from the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal are said to have put forward an offer for the star who, as it stands, will be without a club in the summer. Van Dijk is in the final months of his Liverpool contract, in addition to Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and yet to come to terms with the Reds over a deal.

The defender has been a key figure under Arne Slot this term as the Anfield side bid to retain the Carabao Cup trophy this weekend and attempt to convert their healthy lead into a Premier League title. But the Dutchman, 33, is yet to be tied down by Liverpool chiefs, despite being the club's captain.

The Saudi side, who already boast the talents of Aleksandr Mitrovic and Ruben Neves, recently saw Neymar's departure to Santos and can offset some of that burden in the ex-Celtic and Southampton star's direction. L'Equipe reports Van Dijk has received a blockbuster offer but has yet to provide a response as he prefers to focus on the final stretch of the season

Van Dijk, who has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in Liverpool colours, recently made clear that talks with his current club are not currently on hold. The veteran defender claims that even at this late stage his future remains undecided beyond this term.

“|’ve no idea," he said following Liverpool's European exit to Liverpool. "I still have no idea at the moment. Genuinely, I have no idea at the moment.

"Talks aren’t on hold, nothing’s on hold. I keep saying the same thing. Listen, there are 10 games to go and that’s my full focus. If there is news you guys will know it. I don’t even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that’s about it.

“At the moment I don’t even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they’re lying to your face.”

Van Dijk's team-mates also see their futures remain up in the air. Salah is said to want a longer deal and greater compensation that than Liverpool have so far been prepared to offer.

Alexander-Arnold meanwhile, is widely expected to join Real Madrid in the summer. Los Blancos attempted to secure the full-back's signature in the January transfer window and saw a cheeky £20m bid rejected.
