Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven could make his senior debut for Netherlands on Thursday evening when Oranje take on Greece in a Euro 2024 qualifier
Micky van de Ven has made quite the start to his Tottenham career. Earning rave reviews in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, the player came to the attention of a number of clubs but it was Tottenham who in the end won the race for his signature.
Earning his first Netherlands call-up for this month's international fixtures, Van de Ven has opened up on what Postecoglou said to him prior to his move to N17 and also about making mistakes given Spurs' intent to pass the ball out from the back.
“At my age it’s important that you get a lot of playing time," he said as reported by Dutch publication NU. "I spoke about this in detail with the Tottenham coach. He said: ‘I am bringing you in to play. And that may not go well right away, but then I know you have the quality'."
Only playing at home once since his move, the support on the road from the Tottenham faithful has been noted by the summer signing.
"Thousands of Spurs fans travel with us at an away match," he said. "Then you know that you are playing for a very big club. These are great weeks."
"I train here with defenders like Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt and Nathan Ake. These are players with fantastic careers, I can 100 per cent learn something from them. I have travelled a special path, but it is far from over. Here I can get even better at Oranje."
