Rooney was once the youngest goalscorer in the Premier League after scoring a last minute goal against Arsenal, while playing for Everton when he was just 16 years old.
So it's no surprise, that Wayne Rooney was thrilled to see his 10-year-old son Kai following in his footsteps and pursuing his own love for the game during a recent football training session.
The dad-of-four shared a video of Kai in action on the pitch to his Instagram page and instantly had fans branding the youngster a 'future star'.
In the clip, Kai is seen being put through his paces while sporting his training kit and bright blue personalised football boots.
He carries out a series of training drills, before revealing his talents on the pitch as he practices his shooting and expertly hits the back of the net several times.
Proud dad Wayne, who now plays for Derby County, gushed that it was 'quality' to see his son in practice and wrote alongside his video post: 'Thanks for Kai’s sessions @tomowensuk. Quality.'
And he'll no doubt be left smiling over numerous comments from fans predicting Kai has a bright future ahead of him in football, with many likening the young lad to his famous father.
One follower commented: 'Imagine years from now having Old Trafford chanting for Kai,' while a second added: 'Strikes the ball just like his old man! This is quality.'
A third said: 'Glad to see Kai's enthusiasm for football, future star.'
'The kid is looking great. Hope he does well,' posted another.
One more simply said Kai was the 'new Wazza'
