'We don't even create chances to score': Furious David de Gea blasts Man United teammates

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea launched an astonishing tirade bemoaning his team-mates after losing away at Premier League strugglers Everton.

Everton, going into the Saturday lunchtime fixture knowing that the pressure was on following a loss away at fellow strugglers Burnley during the week, secured a vital victory thanks to a deflected effort from Anthony Gordon.

Needing a result to keep pace with top four challengers Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United lost further ground.

Speaking after the game, De Gea labelled the loss a 'disgrace' while adding that his side do not even 'create chances to score'.

He said: 'We don’t score, we don’t even create proper chances to score. I don’t know what to say, to be honest. We’re not good enough, that’s for sure.

'They [Everton] played Wednesday and they were tired but they had more desire than us, that is not acceptable. Very sad to lose today.'

'It is a disgrace from us, we should be winning this game,' the Spaniard added.

The furious goalkeeper went on to add that it would now be difficult for Manchester United to secure top four, although they will be encouraged by Arsenal's loss at home to Brighton.

He said: 'It’s going to be very difficult now to be in the top four.'

Meanwhile, interim manager Ralf Rangnick echoed the sentiments of his goalkeeper and said that his side did not create enough.

He said: 'Second half, we were trying to add more creativity with our substitutions but we could not choose the right moment or make the right decision and couldn't score a single goal in 95 minutes.'

Responding to a suggestion that Manchester United's players might be distracted by the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the next permanent manager, Rangnick said that was not an excuse.

'This should not be an excuse, we are Manchester United - we have a lot of international players.'

'This should not be an alibi or excuse to nobody, there will be a new manager next season and if this is being announced now or in 10, 20 days it should have no impact on a game like today,' he added.
