West Ham 'make contact with Sanchez's agent' as Utd keen to offload Chilean flop

West Ham 'have been in contact with Alexis Sanchez's agent' over a potential move for the Chilean winger this summer.

Sanchez is currently on loan at Inter Milan from Manchester United but has struggled to make much of an impact in Italy amid recurring injury issues.

The 31-year-old has played in just 15 matches for Antonio Conte's team, scoring just once, and Inter have no desire to keep hold of him beyond this season.

According to FC Inter News, as relayed by Sport Witness, Inter can't consider buying Sanchez outright from United because of his £10.6million-a-year wage packet.

And with United unwilling to keep him either, Sanchez will be on his way to a new club once the transfer window does open.

The report suggests that West Ham have contacted Sanchez's agent Fernando Felicevich for 'information' on his availability, though that is the extent of their interest so far.

However, Sanchez earns £400,000-a-week at United and West Ham are unlikely to match that, meaning the player will have to take a substantial pay cut.

Even during his loan at Inter, United were paying £300,000-a-week of that sum with the Serie A club contributing £100,000.

There is also reported interest from the Bundesliga in Sanchez, who needs a fresh start to reinvigorate a career that well and truly lost its way at Old Trafford.

Since Sanchez arrived from Arsenal in January 2018, United have spent an eye-watering £64.65m when weekly wages, appearances fees, signing-on fees and annual loyalty bonuses are taken into account.
