Chelsea are said to be in the market for a new striker this summer despite having already signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal

Keisuke Goto is the latest youngster to emerge on Chelsea's radar this summer. The 18-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge recently as Todd Boehly continues to scour the market for the world's most exciting young players.

The Blues signed Omari Hutchinson, Cesare Casadei, Zak Sturge, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina last year, before securing the signatures of Andrey Santos and Malo Gusto in January. This summer, the west London have continued from where they left off, wrapping up deals for Dujuan Richards, Diego Moreira and Angelo Gabriel.

So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at the youngster and why Chelsea could be looking to add him to Mauricio Pochettino growing list of exciting young talent.

Who is Keisuke Goto?

Goto, who sees his contract at the Yamaha Stadium expire in 2027, has featured 20 times for Jubilo Iwata in the J2 League this season, scoring five goals. Despite averaging just 37.6 minutes a game for the Japanese outfit, he's managed to attract the attention of some top clubs from around Europe.

The striker, who stands at just under 6ft 3ins, likes to use his physical dominance to his advantage and towers over defenders to score headers. His movement will have also caught Chelsea's eye; in the small sample size, Goto has a raw ability to leave his opposition rooted to the spot by finding space in the box.

It's said that he would have featured for Japan at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this summer, but he picked up an injury just before the tournament started.

How much will he cost?

Goto is currently valued at €250,000 (£214,000) by Transfermarkt, but with a contract which expires in fours years time, he could very well demand a much greater fee.

Who is interested?

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea face tough competition from West Ham, Ajax, Feyenoord and Sevilla for Goto's signature this summer. The report states that he's regarded as 'the best teenage talent in Japan' and has previously been compared to Harry Kane.
